Day 1 in BA

Wow! So, BA is so much fun that I have had time to post a message since... Tuesday!

Our first big day in the city we spent exploring Recoleta, the posh section of town. I would compare it with the UES of Manhattan. We had a slowish start, still jet lagged and tired from the night out before. Our hotel provided us a very nice breakfast and we jumped in a cab over to Recoleta. We walked the Ave. Alvear and picked out our fave hotels and buildings. If we ever to stay in this section of town, it would be at the Palacio Duhau. Such a gorgeous building I forgot to take a pic. We saw the regular Recoleta sights, including the famous cemetery which I found very interested but I think gave Danny the creeps.

We then had a delicious, and very French lunch at a sweet bistro called Cafe Jacqueline. Definitely a place where the Portenos Ladies who Lunch go to rest their feet between shopping at La Martina and the other fantastic boutiques. I think my fav. shop was Rossi and Caruso. We will definitely go back when we return to BA next week. I highly recommend. Great shoes, bags, ect... it's like Long Champs meets Argentina.

RL SALE!

For dinner, we hit the town and had a late dinner at Sucre, a restaurant everyone recommended in the middle of nowhere. Very cool decor and the food was DELICIOUS. We didn't finish dinner until about 1 am. Danny had the lamb, obvi, and I had the pato (duck). We hopped in a cab, for which I almost had to take down some NYU B-School girl and finished the evening at the ever-so-hip, Casa Cruz. The restaurant had closed, but we went to the bar next door. It wasn't too pack, and the design was very 1970's fabulous. In a small courtyard behind the building, we befriended an odd group of Euros who had flown down to BA for the New Year.

I love BA!

Arriving in BA!

We arrived safe and sound just before 9pm on Monday night. Here is a picture of the sun setting over Argentina and the Pampas:

The airport was a little hectic, but we had a driver there to greet us. He quickly zipped us into the city and we checked into the Hotel Bobo. We will be spending three nights in room number 1, the "Pop" room. Very funky and in a great part of Town, Palermo Viejo.

Our hotel directed us to a fantastic restaurant, Don Julio, just two blocks down Guatemala street. There were no tables available at first outside, so they poured us each a beautiful glass of rose. Danny was obviously a happy camper. For dinner, we each enjoyed a big steak, empanadas and shared a perfect bottle of Malbec. A classic first meal in BA! We then went for an evening stroll and enjoyed great people watching. They really do stay up to 2 am on a monday night.

Greetings from Panama! We are about half way to Argentina. The drive from Palm Desert to LAX was a piece of cake. We got there with plenty of time to enjoy a glass of champagne before boarding.

The redeye from LAX wasn't all that bad at all. 7 hour flight and we slept for about half of it.
We are now relaxing in the Copa Club listening to jazzy muzak. They need to seriously improve their music collections. A musak redition of Elton John is never a good idea. We have about 15 minutes until our next flight boards..... Gotta go.

BA here we come!

The Morning of our Flight!

Today was a great way to begin our journey to BA. Because our flight was at 1 am on Monday, we were able to enjoy all of Sunday in the desert. Today, we visited the beautiful city of Palm Springs. Home tours are only available to the likes of Martha Stewart, but we were able to get a taste of what makes P.S.

First we (Kristin, my mother, Danny and I) went to the flagship store for Trina Turk. Needless to say... it was amazing!!!!!!! We (the ladies) all found great sunglasses, a perfect momento of a great couple of days in the desert. Then we had a wonderful lunch the Viceroy Hotel which I'd had wanted to check out since they opened. Tres chic and great people watching.

Planning

We are soo excited for our trip... I can hardly wait! I feel as though we are mostly packed and ready to go... But still...I'm nervous! We haven't taken a big trip like this since our honeymoon which was amazing. I have all of our travel books, maps, ect. I hope I'm not forgetting anything.

We leave tomorrow for the airport. I still need to pick up some last minute things. Can't forget the Uno Cards!!!
